Fotorally

Explore the European identity illustratively

Fotorally is a creative game of imagination and associations. It will create a freely evolving and multidimensional matrix of photos. These photos project associations of differences and similarities between different parts and cultures of Europe. As the game is based on images, no language is required. The photos will capture the diversity of the European way of life and collect our memories and are used to create an innovative cultural learning network.

The European identity will be explored illustratively. Starting trough photos taken by citizens themselves and then developing cross cultural social networking through the use of creative digital media. The project is open to everybody on a European wide basis. Because the material for the photo collection is created by the citizens themselves, the basis is personal, motivated and also revealing.

The creation of the photo matrix linked to social networking tools aims to increase the awareness of the participating countries and their cultural manifestations. As well as strengthen the cultural bridges between each other.

Fotorally starts in four cities: Helsinki, Hamburg, Barcelona and Amsterdam. The City Archives Amsterdam (Stadsarchief Amsterdam) is the Dutch partner in this project. This project is an open one, so new partners and cooperators may join the project during its’ activities.
