Creating at Amsterdam Smart City Lab
At Pincinc, friday the 25th of September, the Amsterdam Smart City Lab took place. The labsession was organised bij Amsterdam Smart City, Amsterdam Living Lab and Fablab. The goal was to create a new project to help Amsterdam get 'smarter'.
Fridaymorning 20 people came together in the Meter House. The day started with a couple of presentations to get a clear view of the idea of Amsterdam as a smart city. 'Smart' means in this case 'cleaner', like: energy reduction, less pollution and less carbon emission.
In the afternoonsession two groups were made. With the help of Fablab the 'create session' started. The task was to create a city with green ideas in it. Paper, wood, clay, plastic, fabrics, crayons, feathers and lots of other things were there to help us. After a while two cities were made. One was a selfsufficient Island with green lighting and the idea of creating energy out of earthshocks. The other was a city where rain was used to flush toilets and the use of more bikes to keep the cars out of the city. See the pictures to get an impression.
After more brainstorming and some discussions Amsterdam Smart City choose 2 out the pile of ideas: creating a website to make a platform for green ideas and involving schools in the sustainable energy theme by making studymaterials and creating a competition for the greenest school in Amsterdam.
